The global SaaS bloat index

Stack Tax

What software bloat costs each company-size segment, measured in dollars per employee and read from public evidence.

$4.75M

measured software waste per 1,000 employees in the heaviest band, per year

$3,943

unused-seat cost per employee per year in the heaviest band

Across 5 company-size bands and 4 industries, each scored separately.

What SaaS bloat costs

The score combines four measures: app sprawl, unused seats, spend per employee, and price increases above the market baseline. For the two measures we observe directly, we also publish the cost in dollars per employee per year, so the finding reads as money.

A recoverable number, not a vibe

Measured waste from unused licenses and overpayment is reported in dollars per employee per year. Modeled consolidation savings stay a separate range.

Every segment, every measure

Company-size bands and industry cuts scored on four measures. A segment cannot offset a bad measure with a good one, so a single weak area still shows.

Which categories a segment over-buys, where its tools overlap, what comparable contracts cost, and what public filings corroborate. Each from a named source.
